Who are we?
Founded in 2023, Trekkers UK is a Birmingham based, not for profit community organisation creating joyful, inclusive spaces for the Global Majority to connect with nature, move their bodies and vibe outdoors.
We bring people together through feel-good wellbeing walkshops, countryside hikes, retreats and outdoor adventures that support mental, physical and social wellbeing. Rooted in the Five Ways to Wellbeing, our experiences are more than just walks; They’re about laughter, community, good conversation and that lighter feeling you get after time spent in nature.
Whether it’s a gentle local stroll or a countryside strideout hike, Trekkers UK exists to help our community reset, recharge and reconnect with nature, with each other and with themselves. We centre fun and cultural belonging, all whilst making nature connection a positive, accessible and mentally nourishing part of life.
What’s the mission?
As a Birmingham-led, not for profit organisation, we use nature connection to support mental and physical wellbeing, foster joy, and nurture collective care. We actively respond to the stress, burnout, and disconnection often experienced in inner-city life. Guided by the Five Pathways to Nature Connectedness (Contact, Beauty, Emotion, Meaning, and Compassion) we create spaces where people can pause, feel safe, and experience nature and outdoor adventure as restorative rather than intimidating.
Our mission is to diversify green spaces, dismantle cultural and structural barriers to the outdoor adventure, and cultivate a future where caring for mental health through nature connection is normal, accessible, and joyful for everyone in our community.
